Christo Headfort – once labelled by the gossip columnists as Britain’s poshest agent – has joined Sotheby’s International Realty.

The Marquis of Headfort will now be part of the Countrywide group, which acquired the Sotheby’s International Realty brand last year on a 25-year licence.

Headfort joins from Bective Leslie Marsh, which in 2003 merged with his own agency, Bective Davidson, which he set up in 1995 and was named after the subsidiary title he also holds, Earl of Bective.

He secured the first million- pound house deal in Chelsea in the mid-1980s and is renowned for handling the sales and acquisition of super-prime properties for high-profile clients with absolute discretion.

Charlie Smith, managing director of UK Sotheby’s IR, said: “Christo brings outstanding experience, knowledge and highly-prized personal contacts in his private client work to Sotheby’s International Realty, enhancing our standing even further as unrivalled experts in prime central London homes.

“We are delighted to have someone of Christo’s standing and influence on our team.”

Headfort said: “The Sotheby’s International Realty brand is recognised throughout the world, representing impeccable quality and global reach, and will bring an extra dimension to my work with private clients.”

Countrywide has said that it wants to grow the Sotheby’s brand in the UK.
