Behavioral and Mental Health Technician
Short-Term Certificate
Psychiatric technicians and aides care for people who have mental illness and developmental disabilities. Technicians typically provide therapeutic care and monitor their patients’ conditions. Aides help patients in their daily activities and ensure a safe, clean environment. They are employed in hospitals, community mental health centers, psychiatric clinics, social service agencies and geriatric nursing homes.

Having a Community Health Certificate enables you to be a front line public health worker who serves as a liaison or intermediary between the community and health/social services.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology
Bachelor of Applied Science
COTC is excited to offer the first and only accelerated Bachelor of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology degree in Ohio. Students can choose to major in general or cardiac ultrasound.
Electrocardiograph Technician
Short-Term Certificate
Under the supervision of physicians and/or nurses, electrocardiograph technicians operate equipment that records and measures heart activity (EKG/ECG diagnostic examinations) and report results to the treatment team. These measurements are used to assist cardiologists and other physicians in diagnosing and treating problems with a patient’s heart and blood vessels.
Electrocardiography for the Cardiac Sonographer
Short-Term Certificate
This short-term certificate program allows sonographers and sonography students to quickly upskill or advance their careers as electrocardiography (EKG) technicians. Students learn how to interpret and perform electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs) and, upon completion, are eligible to take the Certified EKG Technician (CET) certification exam.
Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary (EFDA)
Short-Term Certificate
This certificate program trains certified dental assistants in the art of restorative dentistry. EFDAs perform advanced remediable intra-oral dental procedures (sealants and fillings) under the supervision of a licensed dentist.

Associate of Applied Science
Earn an Associate of Applied Science in Health Services Technology and become a healthcare technician who assists medical staff completing specialty tasks and accommodates patient needs.
Home Healthcare Provider
Short-Term Certificate
Home health aides provide in-home care to people with disabilities, chronic illness or cognitive impairment. Help is often provided to older adults in need of assistance. Many seniors prefer to remain in their own homes as long as possible; having the assistance of home health aides supports this option.

Paramedic to Associate Degree Nursing

Central Ohio Technical College offers a four-semester transition option for paramedics. The curriculum provides a balance of general education and nursing courses. A student applying to the paramedic to ADN program must hold a current paramedic certificate to practice in the state of Ohio.
Patient Care Technician
Short-Term Certificate
Patient care technicians with multiple skills play a vital role in direct patient care. After completing the certificate, the student will be certified as a State Tested Nursing Aide and become certified in CPR. Phlebotomy and electrocardiogram (ECG) are also part of this certificate.
Phlebotomy
Short-Term Certificate
Phlebotomists draw blood for tests, transfusions, research or blood donations. They primarily work in hospitals, ambulatory centers, clinics, medical and diagnostic laboratories, blood donor centers, and doctors’ offices. Phlebotomists typically enter the occupation with a postsecondary non-degree award from a phlebotomy program. Professional certification is highly desired for employment.

Licensed practical and licensed vocational nurses (known as LPNs or LVNs, depending on the state in which they work) provide basic medical care.
