Aims and objectives

The ESCMID Study Group for Veterinary Microbiology (ESGVM) aims to prevent the emergence and spread of animal infectious diseases, hazards of veterinary public health importance and AMR using a One Health approach and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Together, we are committed to:

Promoting evidence-based antimicrobial therapy, antimicrobial stewardship and best infection control practices
Facilitating the advancement and harmonization of diagnostics in the veterinary setting
Unite experts working in research, public health and animal health settings in a forum for knowledge exchange and communication
Promoting OneHealth by facilitating joint research and training collaborations between medical and veterinary microbiologists within areas of common interests, such as zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance
