Story
I'm fundraising on behalf of a 5 year old boy called Austen who was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy in December 2019 which worsened during lockdown.
Austen's now uses a power wheelchair as he is unable to stand or walk unaided. There is an Innowalk machine that can help him retain strength in his legs and body core which his physio has recommended.
Unfortunately the Innowalk machine is a very expensive piece of equipment and there is no funding available towards it. Austen's family are raising funds via the Tree of Hope Charity in order to pay towards the cost of the equipment so that Austen may continue to stay active for longer and delay further deterioration of his muscles.
I am planning on completing a solo walk along Hadrian's Wall starting at Bowness on Solway on Friday 12th November and finishing at Wallsend on Monday 15th November 2021. I will be carrying everything I need and wild camping along the way. Austen and his Dad will be meeting me towards journeys end to ensure I make it to the finish line.
As an added edition, Austen's favourite superhero is iron man. With this in mind I've bought myself an Ironman morph suit which will be worn as much as I can on the walk (Weather dependent). I will however wear this on the last day whatever the weather.
I’d really appreciate any sponsorship, promotion or support that you might be able to offer to me or Austen as we look to reach our target.
