Head for Paris 2023
Two cyclists, Martyn Williams and Garry Forfar, are taking on the huge challenge of cycling from London to Paris for Head for Change in mid-July 2023.
Martyn and Garry are training hard and this is going to be a real challenge for them to complete.
Martyn explains why they've chose to support Head for Change,
"The effect of Dementia on family life is devastating - as a father, it really resonates with me what these families have to endure and we’ve seen no greater repercussions of this debilitating disease than on the relatives of athletes. The risk of traumatic brain injury’s for athletes across all sports has gotten more attention in recent years. As a sports fan, I’ve watched the likes of Alix Popham, Dafydd James, and Steve Thompson, alongside countless others risk their health for their sport every time they play. Loving and playing sport shouldn’t mean putting your life on the line, which is why we’ve chosen to do this cycle in support of Head for Change."
Please support Martyn and Garry by giving anything you can via the Just Giving page and choosing to #BePartOfTheSolution
The aim of the cycle challenge is to raise awareness of the issues and all the money raised from this event will be going directly to fund Head for Change’s rugby education programme that is due to launch this year in schools and grassroots rugby.
Head for Change is a start up charitable foundation, pioneering positive change for brain health in sport and supporting ex-players who are affected by neurodegenerative disease as a result of their professional sporting career.
