Forward Education is a spinoff from Canadian EdTech company, InkSmith. Our mission is to empower the next generation with purpose-driven STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with a focus on helping students understand and solve problems related to climate change. Forward Education's core solution centres around the Climate Action Kit, where students will learn how to code and build projects in the context of climate change issues related to the United Nation's Sustainability Goals. The Climate Action Kit in combination with Forward Education's online learning platform, can be used across different grades, subjects, and skill levels to make it easier for school districts to improve their STEM education. Collaborating closely with educators, we aim to drive the future of education forward and inspire the change-makers of tomorrow.

When it comes to teaching coding in the classroom, it can be a scary experience for educators who have never coded before! In fact, teacher fear is one of the biggest hurdles we hear about. That's why every Climate Action Kit includes step-by-step coding tutorials so students can follow along at their own pace and don't always have to rely on the educator to be the expert. Inspiring kids to learn with real-life technology 🤖 > traditional textbook learning 📚 In this project, students learn about how renewable energy can be generated by Wind Turbines. Then, using the Climate Action Kit, students build and code their own prototype version of this real-life technology. The LED Light in the project represents different 'battery charge' levels, which change depending on how fast the Wind Turbine is moving. Students build logic into their code to decide what speed the turbine needs to be going to generate enough electricity to 'charge' the battery. It's all about teaching coding and inspiring climate action in the context of real world topics! In other words, purpose-driven learning. In this project, students learn about the benefits of using technology for agricultural farming compared to traditional farming. With that knowledge, they then build a simulated 'smart farm' that uses a moisture sensor to measure the soil, and a water pump to water the plant! #edtech #STEM #computerscience #coding
